Hi @Gollapudi and @all
After some more tweaks and waiting to see if there would be any undead services coming back to life, think I've got control over all Update services.
First off all, make sure you've already:
- Uninstalled KB4023057
- Disabled service Background Intelligent Transfer Service [BITS]
- Disabled service Windows Update [wuauserv]
- Disabled service Windows Update Medic Service [WaaSMedicSvc]
Instructions for the above tasks can be found on the nearest grocery store.
Now, 1st, we have to make sure that KB4023057 won't come back with the below registry tweak script:
2sd, Disabling Update Orchestrator Service [UsoSvc]
Navigate to the following entry on the registry and delete the "Scheduled Scan" key (you may want to backup it before deleting):
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\TaskCache\Tree\Microsoft\Windows\UpdateOrchestrator"
On "Task Scheduler" make sure the following tasks are all disabled:
- Library/Microsoft/Windows/WindowsUpdate/Scheduled Start
- Library/Microsoft/Windows/WindowsUpdate/sih
- Library/Microsoft/Windows/UpdateOrchestrator/Maintenance Install
- Library/Microsoft/Windows/UpdateOrchestrator/MusUx_LogonUpdateResults
- Library/Microsoft/Windows/UpdateOrchestrator/Reboot
- Library/Microsoft/Windows/UpdateOrchestrator/USO_Broker_Display
Take ownership of everything, opening the command line as Admin ...
I've noticed that, from time to time the service gets back Active but anyway its unable to execute as per file ownerships.
Now I'm able to startup Windows Update whenever I wish and take it back down again.
Hope this helps
Nice regards.
