After Lenovo trying to fix laptop they are just giving me a new one of similar specs under warranty. What program can I use to wipe it and make it impossible or really hard if someone actually tried to recover any information from it?

simply remove partition and create a new one ..
then everything is gone ...

Can you be clear.. did you get a new hdd?
If so, it's empty of your data... no need to wipe.
If you have your old drive in the new laptop, then I'd use a Low Level Format tool, and wipe it to DoD standards...

Plenty of software here for that job.

simple..... IF you really feel the need to wipe a "brand new" system, then just insert ANY PE or Windows setup disc, boot to it, THEN either:

1- Use the PE (Hirens, AOMEI etc...) and the included partition managers and wipe the drive, which will render the computer inoperable and ready for a NEW OS.

2- Use the Windows Install Media and install as normal, then when you get to the hard drive section, just delete ALL partitions and then install windows as you normally would.

I know, and I liked it too. I gave him/her all the "simple" ways of doing it. Personally, I wiped EVERY new computer I get (used and new). I want to know whats on there, and NOT have a ton of junk "try-before-buy" nonsense.
Plus, I felt the need to include info about the PE way of doing it.

Lol I didnt explain that well enough we have to send the old one back. Other than deleting the partitions and formating would anyone go further than that if worried about anyone trying to recover anything.

lol, no problem. In that case, yes, I'd use a PE or a bootable Partition manager, and delete ALL partitions. If you want to go thru the xtra time, you can "Zero Write" all the sectors which will render the drive TOTALLY empty.
