Might be old news to some, but there's a guy online making really great (mostly) open-source sound drivers that work with just about any Realtek Audio Device.
They're tweaked to re-add features like PCM Passthru, TOSLINK support for Dolby Digital / DTS-HD, or access to a Graphic Equalizer. Shady OEMs and/or Distributors will disable these on lower-end SKUs so that the more expensive options will sell.
On top of that, he forces compatibility with premium audio software like Dolby Atmos, Nahimic, Sonic Studio, and SoundBlaster Connect allowing them to work regardless of packaged licensing or other restrictions.
Definitely worth a try if you enjoy music, movies, or immersive games on your pc. The Win 7/8 driver is no longer actively developed but both drivers are still actively supported by the creator on his GitHub.

Searching google for "AAF Optimus Driver" will get you there. Definitely worth a peek.
