Hey I don't use Linux so wouldn't know where to start

Hey Morph. Too bad you don't use Linux. It has many advantages over Windows. But it can't totally replace Windows. So I use the advantages from both worlds. I have on my main machine Linux-Mint 20.03. and there in a virtual machine Windows 7. On the laptop I have a parallel installation of Windows 7, Emmabuntus and Robolinux. At the moment I am looking at Spiral Linux. All my buddies don't want to know about Linux, so I need all the Windows stuff, because I'm the guy who has to straighten out everything they screwed up, mostly by user error. For me personally Windows 10,11 would be out of the question!

I laugh as I too am that guy that has to fix everything for the family 🤣

I've played around on mint and tried Redhat till I messed up my boot drive (I was dual booting and formatted my boot drive so I'm sure you can guess what happened). All I remember was something about a Linux boot error.

I've always been a Windows guy as it's easier to let's say 'play' around with.

Why is my Windows detecting viruses in this software bundle?
TrojanDownloader:O97M/EncDoc.CN!MTB
HackTool:Win32/Passview!MSR
HackTool:Win32/Defendercontrol.A
Trojan:Win32/Occamy.CBC
HackTool:Win32/Passview!MSR
HackTool:Win32/DefenderControl!MSR
It detected 6 viruses
Now I must probably wipe my PC cause I ran the start.exe app

depends on your virii scanner but at the time of uploading these are what i found... keeping in mind alot of false positives would be picked up depending on the scanner used.
