If it is not a USB keyboard (i guess it's not a ps2 or bluetooth, right?), I assume it is an internal keyboard, that can give compatibility problems with some laptops. That is why I asked you if it was external or internal. Laptops are very delicate in terms of drivers and compatibility according to their hardware architecture and manufacturer. For it to work for you it has to be an original replacement part of the same make and model, maybe a Chinese clone will work for you, but I would not spend money on a replacement part that is not original.

CONCLUSION: In order for this thread not to become chit-chat, use original parts of the same make and model that you are replacing. If you have doubts, take the laptop with you to the place where you are buying the part for advice. If you are buying the keyboard online, be sure to ask all questions about your laptop from the seller to make sure it will work. Last option, take the laptop to an official technical service to have the defective keyboard replaced.
