So if I try an upgrade from within windows 10, will this work with normal regedit within windows or will this only work for a clean install?

Do a Google search for "Universal MediaCreationTool wrapper", it looks like it has both the Labconfig values and the MoSetup ones. It appears the Labconfig values are only honored if you are using boot media (aka not running it from the live OS, but WinPE setup). That means to go to the next CU, you probably have to install it via USB boot media again and won't be able to use Windows Updates to go to the next build if your hardware does not meet the hardware requirements.

Tested on computer with Asrock board with no TPM chip at all and intelcore i5 4460 with 16gb of ram and SSD. Did upgrade from windows 10 to 11 for my friend. He is very happy with performance of the machine now :)

Rufus now has a beta version with "Windows 11 Extended support":
  • Add Windows 11 "Extended" installation support (Disables TPM/Secure Boot/RAM requirements)
Only supports clean install from bootable USB flash drive.

I loaded Windows 11 (upgrade from Windows 10) on a VM 2 days with this trick (download the Win 11 ISO from MS):

Bypass TPM and other requirements for Update from within Windows
Start the Windows 11 update software, click "Change how setup downloads updates" and select "not right now", or disconnect from the Internet before pressing "Next". The reason is that there's now a new version of the updater that disables the "back" button on the "Unsupported Hardware" screen. Click "Next", after some checking, a screen "This PC doesn't currently meet Windows 11 system requirements" appears.

Now open the folder "C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources" and look for the file "appraiserres.dll", delete the file. Make sure to delete the correct file, there's several "appraiser" files in that folder.

Return to the Windows 11 updater (no need to restart it), click "back", and "next", done. Viola, hardware requirements bypassed.

:hi: Thanks for this shameera,
this will help a great deal, especially
since a desktop I have does not have
