ConfigureDefender allows you to change additional Windows Defender settings in one window, which are not available among the standard Windows Security settings. The program allows you to change hidden settings for Windows Defender, Exploit Protection, and SmartScreen Filter, which usually require editing the registry, using PowerShell cmdlets or Group Policy.
With ConfigureDefender, system administrators and power users can change various operating system security settings in a few clicks, without having to spend time searching and manually editing them.
Features of the program:
In the program window, the settings are divided into groups: Basic Defender Settings, SmartScreen or Exploit Guard. For quick setup, there are three ready-made profiles: Default, High and Max. When you activate the "Max" preset, all suspicious activity is blocked, as well as blocking when the cloud analysis or SmartScreen filter is triggered.
High Mode
This advanced configuration enables network protection and Exploit Guard (ASR) features. Three functions of Exploit Guard and the function of protection against ransomware "Controlled access to folders" are disabled to avoid false positives. This configuration is suitable for most users and significantly improves the security level.
Max mode
This is the safest level of protection that activates all Windows Defender features and hides Windows Security Center. Changes to settings can only be made in the ConfigureDefender interface. The "Max" configuration is recommended to protect children and inexperienced PC users, and can also be used to enhance protection. Usually this level of protection causes an increase in the number of false positives, but at the “High” level, additional technical knowledge and skills may be required.
Note! Users who have changed Windows Defender settings using Local Group Policy should set their respective settings to Not Configured to avoid potential conflicts with ConfigureDefender.
System requirements:
Windows 10 1607 (Anniversary Update) onwards - Windows 11 (x64)
