Usually if you update an App the new version will not be activated.
It is better not to update it and wait for the new version here.

If you right click avast icon in taskbar, and go to update, you can update engine /virus definition, and programme

Could updating programme alter the premium programme status (or downgrade to free) so it's best just to update virus definitions only?
