The only way you can open these type of files is to save them in Word 97 - 2003 Document format.
That way it takes out all the extra formatting and settings from the version of Word it was originally saved in.

you mean i should save my files in Word 97 - 2003 Document format so that oldest office use may easily open them?

Yes. I have had issues in the past with other people opening my documents I have created unless save the document in that format.
