Sorry if this was a bit simple to solve, but I am a newbie to Linux and only works with VERY basic stuff.

Maybe somehow I messed up with my CentOS (linux core), but now it's not responding to the ls command, which should list all files in current directory.

I have root access to the cloud server. And I normally just use WinSCP to transfer files, plus PuTTy for some basic mantainance.

What's the best way to solve this problem?

Thanks.

Search Google. There's many alternatives to the ls command,way too many to list here.

Sorry but I might have "tried" too many random stuff, and neither ls nor cd works any more...
I think lots of basic commands have been "knocked out" for some weird reason...

Type 'id' and show me the results
type cd .. to go to dir above and type ls -l
to see to who it belongs and the permissions

type cd .. to go to dir above and type ls -l
to see to who it belongs and the permissions

Code:
uid=0(root) gid=0(root) groups=0(root)

cd.. show that command not found

cd - no respond, straight to next line

cd.. gives
Code:
-bash: cd..: command not found

@casperyc
cd space ..
ls is accessible to all users, not mentioning roots, with above you should have an access to everything
