camtasia has a lot to offer once you learn how to use it efficiently.
it does require a bit of resources but almost all video capture and editing software does if it's decent quality

I have used earlier versions, but the version I was previously using, for some reason, would not record sound if I recorded more than 3 minutes. If I recorded less to test, it would work just fine. I had bought that version, and when I contacted tech support, they tried just a little to troubleshoot and then their answer was to buy the next major release. I uninstalled and reinstalled and kept having the problem. I tried tech support a few more times and all they would say was to buy the latest version. I told them I wouldn't be buying their software anymore... so I'm not. LoL.. well.. I mean, cough cough, I'm going to test it first, cough...

having problems like that are not uncommon with related softwares in my experience. Sometimes it could be as simple as a driver or as complex as having a computer not able to handle sustained processor loads associated with recordings so the computer stops certain processes and drivers such as audio.

with software for video editing/capturing, it's very important to acknowledge the system requirements
on my laptop I can run photoshop, illustrator and a few other programs, but if I open sony vegas, things start to lock up because they just require more of the cpu and gpu

you're best to uninstall, wipe out completely with a program like revo uninstaller pro, reboot, then reinstall following the directions exactly.
