SoftMaker Office is a dedicated suite that packs several applications through which users can handle text documents, presentations, spreadsheets, and more. The main advantage of this software is the seamless integration of all formats users are used to from Microsoft Office. With the application, the user can create and edit documents, spreadsheets, and presentations and stay in touch with other people via e-m a i l.
There are several components that this suite comes bundled with, each focused on a particular type of document. Thus, for creating and editing text files, a user has at disposal TextMaker for spreadsheet related tasks. There is PlanMaker, while PowerPoint's replacement is SoftMaker Presentations. The more advanced users who are accustomed to using macro scripts to automate a variety of functions can now enjoy a specialized tool brought by SoftMaker Office. It is called BasicMaker and provides the necessary features for macro development and testing.
All the components of the suite have easy-to-use interfaces, resembling the older versions of Microsoft Office. The functions and commands are easily accessible thanks to the well-organized menus and sub-menus. The charts, worksheets, and slides can be managed and customized in detail thanks to the many objects, effects, and tools that are available inside every component of SoftMaker Office. Also, each program of the suite comes with a consistent configuration area where pretty much everything can be customized to fit the needs and requirements of the user.
The compatibility with all the formats that can be created with Microsoft Office and the rich feature set are the main advantages of this software solution. A more modern interface would be excellent, yet overall, SoftMaker Office can prove a decent replacement for its more famous opponent, with a minimal impact on system resources and a good response time.

- NEW: SoftMaker Office now uses the Microsoft Office formats DOCX, XLSX, and PPTX natively, obviating the need to convert documents for colleagues or business partners;
- Create PDF files directly out of every application;
- NEW: 32-bit and 64-bit versions in the same package;
- Support for high-resolution 4K screens;
- NEW: Empty the file history with a single mouse click;
- Version management that keeps a freely selectable number of versions of each file and enables a user to revert to any previous version;
- Can be installed to a USB flash drive so that it can be used on any PC without installation.
- NEW: user can use SoftMaker Office either with modern ribbons or with classic menus and toolbars;
- NEW: Dozens of new dropdown controls with palettes of options, making document creation much easier (available with ribbons as well as in classic mode);
- NEW: Ribbons are customizable;
- NEW: "Quick-access toolbar" for frequently used commands;
- Switch to "dark mode" to reduce eyestrain;
- NEW: Touchscreen mode with larger icons and more generous spacing;
- NEW: Open documents either in tabs or in separate windows – just like in a web browser;
- NEW: Drag document tabs to the desktop to "undock" them to a separate window, or drag them to the tab bar to convert them to a document tab again;
- NEW: Rearrange document tabs using drag & drop;
- NEW: Pin documents and templates in the file and template history for quick access to often-needed files.

- Better keyboard handling: With Caps Lock active, pressing a key should now always produce the expected character (Mac);
- Sending documents by e- m a i l now works more reliably (Mac).
- Sometimes, the Berlitz dictionaries were not offered (Mac);
- In rare circumstances, text frames in old documents were no longer shown;
- Updating a table of contents now marks the document as "changed";
- In the database window, searching with the "All fields" option works again;
- Using the STRING function in a calculation with a negative repeat count no longer causes a crash.
- Feature: The WEEKNUM function now accepts calendar types 11 to 17 and 21;
- Entering a date in U.S. format (mm/dd/yyyy) no longer converts it to dd/mm/yyyy;
- a specific .pmdx file created by PlanMaker HD crashed PlanMaker;
- The AutoFilter works again with negative numbers;
- Sometimes, checkboxes could not be displayed in worksheets (Mac, Linux).
- If Presentations discovers broken OpenGL support in the operating system, it will restart with OpenGL disabled.
- Retrieving document statistics from TextMaker using BuiltInDocumentProperties now can return values above 65535;
- The NOW function now works in the 64-bit version too.
