I received a HP Notebook Stream from a friend. The problem that I am having is that..
1. It doesn't have the correct network adapter installed and cannot install a driver due to running Windows 10 s (currently tethering wifi).
2. I mistakenly tried changing the Windows product key to a default Windows 10 pro key to try to get out of s mode, now my windows is inactive (switch out of s mode in store doesn't work).
3. I don't have another computer at the moment to make a Windows USB to reinstall the windows on the Notebook.
I tried booting the iso image from my phone but I don't have root access, so I'm kind of stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks guys.

Download a Windows ISO from here using your phone. Also download RUFUS. When both are done plug your phone into your computer, transfer the ISO and RUFUS to the notebook. When done, plug a blank USB drive into the notebook and use RUFUS to burn the ISO to the USB drive.

My problem is that I can't use Rufus on the notebook because it's running Windows 10 s mode, which doesn't allow any 3rd party app outside the Microsoft store to run.

Thanks, unfortunately I can't afford a OTG USB cable nor do a have a rooted phone because I don't have another computer to root the phone model that I have. I tried running a small live Linux distro by extracting the image to the USB but can't quite figure it out 100%, and I know there is a way to create a bootable USB by just extracting the needed files from the image to the USB with proper configuration, but don't know how.

Did you try this:
Yep, I spoke with Microsoft and they said that I cannot switch out of s mode due to being on it for over 3 months, this was before the laptop was given to me.

Then your only viable option is to find someone with a computer that you can burn an ISO to USB.

Unless someone else has an answer,I'll be closing this thread soon.

i hope this is wat you mean ???

How to switch Windows 10 Home in S mode to Windows 10 Home
  1. Press the Start button located at the bottom left of your screen.
  2. Select the Settings icon, located just above the power icon on the Start menu.
  3. Select Update & Security in the Settings app.
  4. Select Activation, and then select Go to Store.
  5. Select the Get option.
  6. Then hit Install when ready to proceed.
  7. The process to switch out of S mode is seconds (maybe about five to be exact). You do not need to restart the PC for it to take effect.
  8. and that's it.
  9. While Windows 10 in S mode is built for security and performance it's not for everyone. Microsoft at least gives you the choice as to which version you prefer.
Unfortunately, it's not easy to go back to S mode without wiping the entire Surface Go, so give it a good think over before you hit that button.
