The BitTorrent protocol is designed to quickly and efficiently transfer files between users. The particularity of this transfer is that downloading does not happen from the server, but directly from the other user's computer to parts that are combined into a single file after full download. This technology has become very popular and currently there are a lot of special trackers on which torrent files are published for every taste.
As mentioned above, BitTorrent technology is fast and convenient: you can download a file at any time convenient for you at a good speed. But if there are no special problems with convenience, then there are a number of questions with speed. After all, that is not always the maximum, as others say.
The reason for a slow download speed may be an outdated client version. Therefore, the current version of the program guarantees its stable and quality work, because every new version introduces new functions.
Further examples will be considered in the popular torrent program Ī¼Torrent, version 2.2.1 which I currently use. If you are using other popular clients, they are configured similarly.
- Launch Torrent.
- In the top panel, find "Help" by clicking on the menu, selecting "Check for Updates".
- You will see an appropriate window in which you will be told whether there is a new version or not. If you receive notification of the need to download the current version - you agree.
You can also receive a new version by configuring the appropriate item.
- Select "Options" in the top menu bar, select "Preferences".
- In the next window, check the box "Automatic installation update". In principle, it is installed by default.
- If this option fails, you can always download the current program on the official website.
Software to increase the speed
If your Internet speed is small, then there are special programs that can affect network bandwidth. It may not give you fantastic results but can increase the speed by several percent.
Method 1: Advanced SystemCare
- Run Advanced SystemCare and check the box with "Internet Boost".

Method 2: Ashampoo Internet Accelerator 3
Unlike Advanced SystemCare, Ashampoo Internet Accelerator does not have such a wide range of tools. This program is simple and concise. Optimization is available in several ways: automatic and manual. Supports several types of links.
- Open the utility and open the "Automatic" tab.
- Select the network adapter you want and the Internet connection that the browser uses. Then click "Start".
- Accept all requests and restart your computer to apply the changes.

Bypass Service Provider Restrictions
- Perhaps your service provider limits the flow of traffic to P2P networks. To avoid blocking or reducing speed, there are some methods for configuring a torrent client.
- Go to the torrent program and press Ctrl + P to open the settings.
- On the "Connection" tab, pay attention to the "Input Connection". Here, you have to enter any value ranging from 49160 to 65534.
- In the "Add Windows Firewall exception" , confirm the box and save it.
Usually, users are assigned ports in range 6881 - 6889, which can be blocked or limited by speed. Unused Ports range from 49160 to 65534.
- Now go to "BitTorrent" check box next to "Enable DHT Network" and "On" DHT for new torrents."
- Slightly lower, in "Protocol Encryption", select "Outbox" in "Enabled" and apply changes.
Now your service provider will not be able to block you and you will get an increase in the number of siders because they will ask for them instead of referring to the tracker.
