hey, I re-installed Windows 10 on my 500GB SSD thinking all my stuff was safe on my second 3 TB drive, I forgot my firefox bookmarks is stored on C.
lost story short I used R-Studio v8 Network Technician on a formatted disk to recover the bookmarks file for FF, I dont know if this can work in your case for many family photos but worth a shot.

you will want to stop immediately using your drive to prevent photo's/files being over written, I recommend a second computer or atleast a spare drive to install windows onto and then R-studio to recover. best of luck

other programs I have are:
Disk Drill
MiniTool Power Data Recovery
SysTools Hard Drive Data Recovery

and Testdisk - which I believe runs in windows and Linux, worth a try on a linux live usb

Zorin is built on an Ubuntu Linux foundation so google something like 5 best recovery tools for Linux/Ubuntu and use one of them!
It is better to NOT go on Windows again because the more you use the computer the less is the chance to get your data successfully back.
More tools:
Cheers and good luck!

Backup, backup, backup!

es, key thing is stop using the drive, even just booting the os is writing things to the disk and putting it further into erasing over files. use a second PC or a spare drive with an OS on it, or if you cant use a live usb of linux or a Windows PE to then install the tools for recovery (they run in ram).

Try EaseUS Data Recovery, I have had good luck in the past with it. Here is a link.

Remember the 3-2-1 Backup Solution! 3 Backups, on 2 different mediums (HDD, Cloud, ETC) in 1 Different Location!
